Moving On: Why pepa.holla.cz is Retiring and What's Next
For more than a decade, pepa.holla.cz has been my digital living room, sandbox, and notebook all in one.
It started as a simple place to dump things I learned, highlight cool tech, and share architectural deep dives with fellow developers. Over the years, we’ve covered a lot of ground together—from wrangling TypeScript, building concurrent services in Go, and optimizing Node.js apps, to managing Linux boxes, fine-tuning infrastructure, and continuous cloud deployments.
Running that blog wasn’t just about sharing knowledge; it was a massive catalyst for my own growth. Every tutorial I wrote meant I had to break down a complex system until I actually understood it inside out. I’ve learned an incredible amount, and it’s fair to say that journey shaped who I am as an engineer today.
But tech moves fast. And recently, it hit warp speed.
With the advent of generative AI, everything changed. Like many of you, I suddenly felt like I’d been handed a set of superpowers. Tasks that used to take days now take hours. Complex architectural prototyping became incredibly fast. It opened up a completely new paradigm of what we can build—and how fast we can deliver real value.
This shift brought me to a turning point, and ultimately to my current role as CTO at Switchly.ai.
To fully focus on this next chapter, I am officially retiring pepa.holla.cz and redirecting all traffic here to the Switchly blog.
Don’t worry, the tech deep dives aren’t stopping. At Switchly, we are pushing our tech stack to the absolute limit, solving complex engineering problems daily, and using these new AI-driven capabilities to make the world a little better, smarter, and more efficient for the people around us.
Moving forward, I’ll be sharing our engineering journeys, backend challenges, infrastructure wins, and AI experiments right here.
Thank you to everyone who read, commented, or debugged along with me for the last 10+ years on the old domain. Grab a coffee, update your bookmarks, and let’s build some cool shit together in this next era.
See you in the next commit, Josef CTO, Switchly.ai
